Neil Parkinson
Director
Mr. Neil Parkinson graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in mathematics, and holds the CPA and FCPA designations in Ontario. He completed the Directors Education Program of the Institute of Corporate Directors in April 2016 and earned the ICD.D designation in June 2016.
Mr. Parkinson is a corporate director, professional accountant, and consultant with over 40 years of experience in insurance and financial services. He was a partner at KPMG from 1988 until his retirement in 2016. He also led the firm’s national insurance practice from 2004 to 2015. He served as Deputy Chair of KPMG’s Global Insurance Accounting Technical Committee, Chair of the Insurance Auditors Advisory Committee for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) from 2009 to 2016 and was a member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board’s Insurance Accounting Task Force from 2006 to 2016.
In addition to advising insurers, he has extensive professional experience working with pension plans and entrepreneurial companies in the real estate and manufacturing sectors. He has served on the boards of Equitable Life Insurance Company of Canada (2016–2025), the University of Guelph (2012–2021), and Prostate Cancer Canada (2007–2013), as well as several other non-profits organizations.
Currently, he is Chair of the Board of Directors of Gore Insurance Company, Lead Independent Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Sagen MI Canada Inc., as well as Chair of the Actuarial Profession Oversight Board. In January 2026, he was appointed to the boards of directors of Beneva Mutual and Beneva as well as the Executive Committee of Beneva Inc.
