Our community involvement
Building bridges with indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ communities
We are working with Pride at Work Canada and the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business to foster more inclusive and respectful workplaces.
These partnerships enable us to share our practices, support our colleagues and move reconciliation and inclusion forward.
Creating opportunities to listen and take action with Perspectives
Perspectives are employee resource groups that bring together colleagues who discuss the issues and challenges of three communities: women, youth and 2SLGBTQ+.
The goal is to raise awareness and offer peer support, while promoting a culture of inclusion.
Some stats:
- 59% of our workforce are women
- 52.7% of our managerial positions are held by women
- At least 5.1% of our employees identify as 2SLGBTQ+
Our inclusion initiatives
Encouraging the development of female talent
We give employees the opportunity to take part in the A Effect Ambition Challenge, a training program designed to help women maximize their career potential.
A transformative journey, it leverages three key behaviours: self-confidence, risk-taking and influence.
Since 2006, nearly 150 employees have successfully completed it.
Integrating DEI into our business practices
We offer training on what it means to be indigenous in Canada, raise awareness on women’s health in group insurance, and share our best practices with our members and partners.
A values-driven collaboration with Alea
Providing access to feminine hygiene products in the workplace
To improve the employee experience, while also adopting best practices, Beneva is collaborating with Alea, a start-up founded in 2022, whose mission is to facilitate access to menstrual products in the workplace.
Roxane Champagne-Duval, founder and CEO of Alea, and Marc Belley, DEI advisor at Beneva, talk about the connection that binds our organizations.
Marc: Alea reached out to Beneva, and it was clear that both companies had common values.
Roxane: Yes, we knew you would be open to talking about wellness in the workplace.
Marc: Offering ethically sourced and sustainable period products just seemed obvious.
Roxane: Our products are made in Canada from organic cotton that is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified.
Marc: What does it mean to Alea to count Beneva as one of its clients?
Roxane: Our business relationship with Beneva has definitely enabled Alea to market its sustainable and affordable menstrual products to a broader audience.
Marc: And Beneva is more than happy to encourage a home-grown company that cares about the environment!
“In the end, this initiative is very beneficial because it reduces the use of plastics, furthers equality of the sexes, promotes health in general and supports a socially engaged company. It's a small gesture for Beneva with a lot of positive impacts!” — Marc Belley
