Beneva renews its commitment to Socodevi: a lasting alliance based on values of solidarity
October 15, 2025 – As Socodevi celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, Beneva is proud to announce the renewal of its partnership with the organization. This agreement will include historic support over the next three years, reaffirming Beneva's commitment to supporting meaningful international cooperation, soldarity and concrete results.
“Beneva, and the mutual companies that founded it, have supported Socodevi since its inception. This long-standing partnership underscores our commitment to supporting impactful international initiatives,” says Jean-François Chalifoux, President and CEO of Beneva. “By drawing on Socodevi's recognized expertise in the countries in which these teams operate, it supports initiatives that promote resilience, equity and sustainability within communities.”
“This year, as we commemorate our 40th anniversary and the International Year of Cooperatives, Socodevi has reached a pivotal milestone, one that reaffirms the enduring and global impact of our cooperative development approach. Since 1985, Socodevi has demonstrated—through the commitment of its cooperative and mutualist network and the trust of partners such as Beneva—that cooperative development is a proven, sustainable solution for enhancing living conditions, strengthening resilience, and building prosperous, proud, and self-reliant communities,” says Jean-Philippe Marcoux, General Manager of Socodevi.
A renewed commitment to serving communities
This renewed agreement focuses on four main areas:
- Support for Socodevi’s overall mission: essential support to sustain operations, develop innovative projects and mobilize a multidisciplinary team in Quebec to provide international support.
- Contribution to the NAtur'ELLES project in Senegal: a flagship project led by Socodevi to protect marine areas and indigenous and community heritage in the Sine-Saloum and Upper Casamance deltas, focusing on women's leadership and local governance.
- Support for fundraising activities: Beneva will actively participate in Socodevi’s fundraising events and campaigns, including The Tree of Intercooperation which aims to offset the organization’s annual carbon footprint.
- Guided by the need of partner communities, Beneva will keep mobilizing its experts, on the ground and at a distance, to support Socodevi’s efforts in building strong, capable, and resilient local teams.
