It’s official: La Capitale and SSQ Insurance are now Beneva. New name, same caring approach rooted in mutualism that reflects who we are: people protecting people.

Rest assured, this doesn’t affect your current policy. You benefit from the same coverage and the same good people are still looking out for you.

General

Based on the type of product you hold, details of the change to Beneva can vary.

The following chart explains how this change applies to your situation:

This doesn’t change anything for you. You continue to benefit from the same coverage and terms for your current contract and your claims are processed as usual.

Until December 31, 2022, Beneva Insurance Company was known as La Capitale General Insurance Inc.
Property and casualty insurance with La Capitale General Insurance Inc. On January 1, 2023, La Capitale General Insurance Inc. changed its name to Beneva Insurance Company.

This doesn’t change anything for you. You continue to benefit from the same coverage and terms for your current contract and your claims are processed as usual.
Group insurance with SSQ, Life Insurance Company Inc. or La Capitale Civil Service Insurer Inc. On January 1, 2023, La Capitale Civil Service Insurer Inc. and SSQ, Life Insurance Company Inc. joined forces to become Beneva Inc., your new life and health insurer.

But rest assured, this won’t affect your current coverage. Claims and disability benefits are processed as usual and there are no changes to your investments. No action is required on your part.
Mutual fund investments handled by a Beneva Inc. representative Beneva Inc. transferred its mutual fund brokerage business to its subsidiary, Beneva Investment Services Inc.

This won’t change your investments or business relationship with your representative. He or she will become a Beneva Investment Services Inc. partner for the distribution of mutual funds. No action is required on your part.
Individual life and health insurance with La Capitale Financial Security Insurance Company Nothing changes for you. This insurer continues to operate separately under the same name.

There is no impact on your current products and services. You’re still covered. All La Capitale and SSQ Insurance contracts are honoured.

Yes. You can contact us by phone or email. We’re always available to answer your questions and provide guidance.

The full transition to Beneva will take some time. The visual references to La Capitale will gradually disappear. Rest assured that your current products and services, even if they transition to the Beneva name, remain the same.

By uniting La Capitale and SSQ Insurance, Beneva becomes the largest mutual insurance company in Canada. With Beneva, you get the expertise of people who have been dedicated to protecting people for over 75 years.

Yes. Your policy number will change when you renew with Beneva.

SSQ Insurance Clients

No. Your policy number will remain the same when you renew with Beneva.

Yes. The same teams are there to ensure you get the same standout service.

Yes, until you renew, your contract remains as is.

A new Beneva offer will be available to you when it's time to renew your contract.

Except for group insurance, your multi-product discounts will be added when all your products are renewed with Beneva.

Your insurance certificate comes with your contract. If you opted for the online contract, you can obtain a digital certificate on the Beneva app and keep it on your mobile phone for easy access. We can also send you a copy by mail.

Our Claims department continues to operate in the same manner. If you have a pending claim, it has the same claim number, and the people who guide you remain the same as well.

To submit a new claim, you can get in touch with our claims adjusters at 1 855 747-7711.

Group insurance

No. You can continue to submit your claims the same way as before.

The hard copy of the card you currently have remains valid, and you won’t receive a new one. Only the visual aspect of your electronic card (accessible via the Client Centre or mobile app) has changed. Your group and identification numbers remain the same.

No. Your group insurance plan remains the same. You don't have to do anything.

No. Beneva honours all La Capitale and SSQ Insurance contracts. You therefore continue to benefit from the same coverage for your current contracts and products.

You don’t need to take any action.  As of January 1, Beneva, which was created through the union of La Capitale and SSQ Insurance, will continue to offer your products.

You still benefit from the same coverage and terms for your current contracts.

Yes. On January 1, the service provider(s) listed as payee(s) on your bank's website and mobile app changed to Beneva.

Yes, of course. You will continue to receive your benefits, as there is no change to your insurance contract.

You’ll simply notice that your benefits are now paid by Beneva.

You do everything the same way as before. The procedure to amend your contract remains the same and your financial security advisor will continue to guide you. The same teams remain in place.

Savings and investments

Since January 1, Beneva, which was created through the union of La Capitale and SSQ Insurance, continues to offer your products and coverage. You don't have to do anything: the terms and conditions of your investments, as detailed on the investment certificates that were mailed to you, will remain the same. If you have any additional questions about your investments, contact your financial security advisor.

No. The terms and conditions of your investments remain the same. You’ll simply notice that the name on your account transactions has changed to Beneva.

Your pre-authorized debit agreement has been amended accordingly. In a nutshell, you don’t have to do anything!

Yes. You will continue to receive your benefits, as there is no change to your insurance contract.

You do everything the same way as before. The process for amending a contract remains the same, and your financial security advisor will continue to guide you. The same teams will remain in place.

Billing and payments

Will the invoice I receive be any different?

Yes. As of January 1, 2023, all La Capitale and SSQ Insurance products and services will be invoiced by Beneva.

Will there be any changes to the way I make my payments?

Yes. As of January 1, 2023, your financial institution will automatically change the payee to Beneva. If you have not already set up your online payments, you will have to select one of the payees from the following list depending on the product you hold.

Will there be any changes to payments by cheque?

Yes. As of January 1, 2023, your cheques must be made payable to Beneva Inc. with the exception of cheques for La Capitale Financial Security, Accident and Sickness, which remain payable to La Capitale Financial Security Insurance Company.

If my contract is with La Capitale, what reference number should I use to make my payments online?

Nothing changes. Continue to use your current 15-digit reference number for your payments. This number appears on your invoice.
