Perspective is an individual insurance plan that acts as a safety net after your participation in a group insurance plan ends.

It can happen for many reasons: if you retire, your job ends, a dependent loses coverage. In any case, Perspective is there to make sure you're covered!

What does Perspective cover?

Quick view of coverage

This coverage supplements the public plan to cover various expenses related to healthcare, illness or accident, such as:

  • Prescription drugs that are not eligible for coverage under your public drug plan
  • Hospital fees
  • Several medical services such as ambulance transportation or nursing care
  • Diagnostic services such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or laboratory tests
  • Several other medical expenses such as respirators or hearing aids

Travel insurance is included in our three levels of protection (described below!) and covers:

  • Trip cancelation or interruption fees

  • Expenses incurred in the event of a sudden and unexpected illness or accident

You can further complete your protection by opting for an optional coverage supplement that covers:

  • Excess amounts on prescription drugs eligible under your drug plan
  • Vision care
  • Dental care

Not a fan of medical questions? We get that.

If you enrol within 60 days after the end of your participation in a group insurance plan, we’ll cover you and skip the medical exam or questionnaire.

All you have to do is fill out the enrolment form. Like to keep it simple? So do we!

How do I enrol?
Enroling in Perspective is as easy as 1-2-3.

  • Choose the level of coverage that works for you

To know the exact amount of your premiums or to get a clearer picture, give us a call at 1 844 580-7642.

Want more details about the coverage before you call? We’ve got a booklet for that.

  • Enrol within the 60-day deadline

Fill out the enrolment form and send it to us

    by email: [email protected]

    by regular mail:

    Beneva
    625 rue Jacques-Parizeau, CP 1500
    Quebec QC  G1R 2G5

  • After 60 days, it gets a little tricky...

We'd rather be up front with you: if you miss the 60-day deadline, insuring you won't be as easy. You'll need to complete a declaration of insurability (a medical questionnaire), and your enrolment is not guaranteed.

If your application for enrolment is submitted more than six months after the end of your participation in a group plan, it will unfortunately be denied.

This is a scenario best avoided, so cover your bases as soon as possible.

  • Wait for written confirmation

Once we review your file, we’ll send you written confirmation of enrolment by mail.

More questions about Perspective? We’ve got more answers.

Yes, this is possible at two times: (1) at renewal or (2) following a life event. Both types of changes come with certain conditions though!

(1)   At renewal

  • The renewal date is easy to remember. It’s January 1 every year for all contracts!
  • The minimum participation requirement must have elapsed. Otherwise, the change will have to wait until January 1 the following year.
  • You can add or drop as many options as you like from the complementary supplement when renewing, but you can only go up or down one level of protection at a time, e.g., from basic to intermediate, but not from basic to enriched.

(2) Following a life event

A plan change or an addition or termination from the optional coverage supplement is always possible within 30 days following one of the life events described below:

  • Birth or adoption of a child
  • Separation or divorce
  • Death of a spouse or dependent
  • Termination of eligibility of the last dependent child

The admission rules for the public prescription drug insurance plan differ based on your province of residence and your age. To find out if you’re eligible, please visit the website of the prescription drug insurance plan in your province of residence.

To sufficiently cover all participants, premiums must keep pace with the rising cost of healthcare. Fast fact: the average increase in healthcare costs is often significantly higher than the average inflation rate in Canada. For instance, inflation rates in 2018 for health insurance plans ranged from 5% to 15%.

So, premiums go up, but if you didn't have insurance, for example, you would also have paid more each year for your care. Basically, it's the cost of the entire healthcare system that increases over time.
